In my house, we are not a fan of traditional Thanksgiving desserts. Pumpkin pie. Pecan Pie. Even Apple Pie. It's not the pie form that we object to. It's the flavors. Dad prefers chocolate. And the rest of us think the usual suspects are rather bland and boring. So, we buck tradition and go with a Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie.

It doesn't really feel like Fall until the house is filled with the smell of cinnamon, butter, and sugar. My sister is the baker in our house. At least until we come across a recipe we like that is complicated with lots of steps. Then she looks at me and asks when I'm going to make it.

My family eats a lot of soups in the Fall and Winter and I've taken to making broths from scratch to use instead of canned or boxed. Not only is it healthier, but it smells amazing while it's cooking and makes the whole house feel cozy. I put these on after dinner to cook before bed or on a weekend during the day when I know someone will be home.
