In my house, we are not a fan of traditional Thanksgiving desserts. Pumpkin pie. Pecan Pie. Even Apple Pie. It's not the pie form that we object to. It's the flavors. Dad prefers chocolate. And the rest of us think the usual suspects are rather bland and boring. So, we buck tradition and go with a Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie.
The recipe comes from Joy of Cooking. It has a graham cracker crust, creamy peanut butter filling, and dark chocolate top. It's a major crowd pleaser. Every time I mention it people start drooling.
I couldn't find the exact recipe to share here, but this one is pretty close. Use a regular graham cracker crust instead of the chocolate one (unless you want to up the chocolate). We also leave off the peanuts.
Of course this pie is amazing any time of year, but if you're in the mood to shake things up why not try something decadent? Maybe start a new tradition.
If you try it let me know what you think.
Do you have non-traditional traditions for Thanksgiving? What's your favorite dessert for the big meal?
